About

A bit about me

Life outside the box. This motto is how I live and how I aim to capture the exquisiteness and splendour of life in my photography. Countless definitions of beauty exist within society, but ultimately beauty exists in the eye of the beholders. My view of beauty is captured in the images I take, with techniques and tools taking merely a secondary role in my goal of capturing the true splendour of life. While countless videos argue on the suitability of specific camera techniques in finding the “perfect shot”, intrinsically the “perfect shot” depends on the individual’s vision. Elliot Erwitt describes photography as the art of observation, finding something interesting in an ordinary place. Which has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

Early on, my passion for taking photographs lacked a specific focus. Textbooks were rigid and for someone like me, who has dyslexia, reading specialised books on camera techniques was both painful and frustrating. But that spark, when looking through my camera lens and capturing a decisive moment in time, instantly overrides any barriers that limit and obstructs me from connecting with my subjects. I am constantly amazed by how photographs can create important narratives, often tapping into deep emotional/psychological landscapes. I firmly believe that the very essence of life is found in the fleeting moments we all experience.

So, my goal is to create a connection for you, the viewer– inviting you to join me and experience the quiet spaces I visit and the beauty I see from my “out-of-the-box” perspective. Inside this website, you’ll have access to my current and updating work on my journey of finding the interesting in the ordinary.
